Day 1 : Haldwani to Lohajung (7,650 ft) - 220 km Drive
Arrive in Haldwani by early morning, and board your vehicles for the drive to Lohajung. Arrive at Lohajung by 3 PM. The road winds through beautiful Kumaon region. We pass though Almora & Kausani. On the way, you will get some spectacular views of peaks like Kamet & Panchachuli. We will arrive in Lohajung by the evening & check into a guesthouse for the night. The town of Lohajung located at 2300 M is also a small mountain pass connecting Gwaldam side to Wan side of the mountain. Spend some evening time in the small market of Lohajung which by the way closes very early or enjoy a beautiful sunset from the balcony of your guest house. Dine early & break into bed for a good long nights sleep.
Day 2 : Lohajung to Bekaltal (9,900 ft) - 6 km
After breakfast start trek with packed lunch. Just beside Lohajung follow the ascending human-made stone trail. On the route get magnificent views of Nandaghunti Peak. The walk is mostly inside the jungle of conifer, Cedar, Oak, and Fir. Bekaltal (2750 M) is a beautiful lake usually frozen in the months of January & February. The trek to Bekaltal is approximately 8 km & is done in 4-5 hours. The lake of Bekaltal is surrounded by oak trees & is a beautiful camping spot. We will camp here for the night.
Day 3 : Bekaltal to Brahmtal (10,600 ft) - 5 km
We break camps early & start trek for Brahmatal (3400M), the place where Lord Brahma is said to have meditated long ago. This forest is home to Monal, the state bird of Uttrakhand. Views of peaks like Trishul, Bithartoli & Nandaghunti will keep your cameras busy today. The lake of Brahmatal is small in size & is difficult to locate from a distance especially in winters when it's completely frozen. We will find a camping spot by the lake & set up camps for the night. It can be very cold here in the months of winters but our camps & sleeping bags will keep us warm during the night.
Day 4 : Brahmtal to Brahmtal Top (12,650 ft) & back to Brahmatal - 13 km
Today's is an easy day. You can choose to carry a daypack & leave your backpack in the camps as we will be returning to the same camp. We trek to the Brahmtal Top ( 3846 M). Look out for the magnificent views of Himalayan range on your right. Two of the most prominent peaks are Mt. Trishul, Nandaghunti which look so close as if you are watching them on a theatre screen. Return to the camp.
Day 5 : Brahmtal to Lohajung - 11 km
This day marks the end of the magnificent trek. After enjoying the best views and the snow laden trail, we will follow the same trail back to Lohajung. We will reach Lohajung by the afternoon. This day could be used to rest as well as explore the small town and hear the mythological stories by the locals and immerse in their culture. Stay in the guest house.
Day 6 : Lohajung to Haldwani - 220 km Drive
